Hi, I’m Joe Hashey. When I was in college my dream was to play football. Nice plan, right? Well that dream was shattered during my sophomore season at Colgate University when I had to undergo two more knee surgeries. I was over weight and never received proper attention and coaching on exercise form. My body was beat up and ready to quit.

I dedicated the next 3 years to understanding fitness. I quickly lost 50 lbs (over about 3 months). When I left college with my Masters, I kept traveling the country to the best gyms and learning from their trainers. Armed with passion and now backed up by knowledge, I opened Synergy Athletics.

I believe each child should have the opportunity to a good coach and solid training methods. Soon we added our Lean X adult program and it was eye opening how many adults never had the opportunity to receive proper coaching as well. Ever since…it’s been an amazing ride!

Coach Bryon

Bryon Palmer is a Johnson City and Brockport University alumnus who was raised in a an active, sport-oriented family.

Bryon interned with Synergy Athletics in the summer of 2014 and formally become a Synergy Coach and trainer in August. Bryon is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer.

Bryon is an expert at pushing members to their personal limits and helping them meet their goals. He is skilled at designing programming around individual needs, goals, and abilities. He is motivated by the fact that the job he loves doing is also helping him become the greatest and healthiest version of himself.

Colin Wilson

Coach and Trainer
"From Personal Trainer to Group Exercise Instructor, Teacher to Advisor, and even a Health and Wellness Director; Colin has been apart of almost every facet of the Exercise Science field. It started around 2006 when Colin's asthma and allergies started the get the better of him more often then not. His doctor advised him to lose some weight. From 2006 to 2008, Colin went from nearly 190 pounds to fighting MMA at 130 pounds. That's when he realized the power exercise can have to transform someone's life. He left his full-time job in Marcellus, NY to pursue his Bachelors Degree in Fitness Development from SUNY Cortland.

Since graduating from SUNY Cortland, Colin has continued working in the Kinesiology Department at the college teaching several classes and advising students. In addition to that, Colin has also worked at the Cortland YMCA where he did personal training, group exercise, and most recently, was the Health and Wellness Director. When Colin isn't fully immersed in the fitness world, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Melissa, and three year old daughter, Sofia. His favorite non-fitness-or-family related hobby would be writing music and performing with his band, Monolith."
